Pan-toasted Sandwich, Gouda & Spicy Mustard

One of my favorite ways to make grilled cheese sandwiches: baked in butter! Maybe not the healthiest version, but definitely the tastiest. This sandwich is made with Gouda Cheese, spicy mustard and pickles!

Grilled Sandwich with Pickles, Mustard & Gouda

Servings 2 sandwiches
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes

Equipment

  • Baking pan

Ingredients

  • 4 Slices of Bread
  • Gouda Cheese or another meltable cheese
  • 6 Pickles Slices
  • 2 tbsp Spicy Mustard like Zaanse Mosterd
  • 2 tbsp Butter

Instructions

  • Heat the baking pan to a medium heat.
  • Divide some mustard on 2 slices of bread. Then add a layer of cheese, some pickles and more cheese. Top it off with the other slice of bread.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the baking pan. Add the sandwiches and bake them brown and crispy. When you turn the sandwiches on the other side, you can add the other tablespoon of butter. Make sure the pan is not too hot, since the cheese needs some time to melt as well.
  • Enjoy!
